Dress code at Kow Tham Center

Retreatants are requested to wear modest, loose-fitting clothing at all times.

Clothing should cover the shoulders and the midriff, and the chest should not be exposed. Pants and dresses should be loose-fitting and cover the knees while standing and sitting.

Clothing must not be transparent.

We recommend light, loose clothing, that’s easy to wash and is comfortable for meditation and yoga.

It is not necessary to wear all white clothing, although a white top and dark pants, and shirts without logos and loud designs, are appreciated while staying at Kow Tham. The retreatant can be understanding how the calmness and peacefulness of their clothing reflects their care for the experience of their companions.

Women may find a light shawl handy in dry season when it can get quite hot and humid. A light jacket or sweater may be wanted in evenings.

Loose fisherman pants can be bought in Thong Sala and Baan Tai villages for about ฿150.

It is recommended to bring shoe wear that is easily removable, for example flip-flops or sandals. The meditation hall, temple, etc, are no-shoe zones — this means you will take off your shoes, and put them back on, every time you enter or leave.

The same regulations are to be obeyed during our daily Mindful Yoga classes, and while anywhere in Kow Tham.
